Deconstructions is a double personal
exhibition of the two world wide famous graffiti writers Raptuz and Poesia, which
is born with the idea of making tangible the relationships that occur in the
development of their indoor practices. Organized as a collaboration between Nina Torres Fine Art Gallery and Hausammann Gallery, the exhibition will
be opened to the public on July 18th
until the 31st, in Miami, at the
location of Nina Torres Fine Art Gallery.
Introduced with a critical
essay by the contemporary art curator Giada
Pellicari, the exhibition will take place along the wide rooms of the space
of the gallery and wants to propose a parallelism between the works by the two
graffiti writers that, even if they come from two different countries in which
graffiti art scene is completely different, are both based on the idea of
deconstruction through the use of mixed techniques: in the case of Raptuz the
analysis is more focused on iconic figures and objects, whereas for Poesia it’s
more channeled to the act of painting and gesture through different
decompositions of letters form.

The whole exhibition will
also mirror the topic of series, which is fundamental in the development of the
works by both the artists, for whom it is not just an issue to solve through
the use of paint and spray-paint, but also a real method of production. All the
paintings should be considered in this way as finite and functional on their own,
but also as a step for the development of a complex corpus that should be seen
together and experienced in situ along the environment. The artworks, then, will be mostly new and
realized for the occasion of Deconstructions,
a term that, actually, not only stands as a name that properly describe their
way of conceiving their last production of canvases, but that should also be
considered as a theme to develop through the exhibition imagined as a path. The
opening will be characterized by a live painting through which the graffiti
writers will show their skills and way of realizing their artworks.
There will also be an
effective connection with Miami –
Wynwood, the neighborhood that is world-renowned for the existence of
important pieces by street artists and graffiti writers, for which Raptuz and
Poesia will create two murals
beginning from July 11th.

NINA TORRES FINE ART
GALLERY
For over 20 years Nina Torres has been actively participating in the
international art market, focusing on Modern and Contemporary Latina American
Art and Mexican Culture. During her career, she has created, developed and
implemented successful art and cultural programs for corporate, government and
private organizations. She negotiated and sold works of art for many Latin
American Masters including: Carlos Merida, Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo,
Remedios Varo, Francisco Zuniga and created the inaugural auction of renowned
artist David Alfaro Siqueiros.
Nina has curated and overseen over a hundred exhibitions in
galleries, art shows and museums around the world including England, Mexico,
Belgium, Holland, France, Thailand and the USA. She is the founder and director
of the Miami River Art Fairs, the first waterfront art fairs during Art Basel
Miami week.
HAUSAMMANN GALLERY
Hausammann Gallery was founded in 1961 in Cortina D’Ampezzo, Italy,
by the important collector Renato Hausammann. Since its beginnings it became a
point of reference for contemporary art in the territory of Ampezzo due to its
research very focused on famous artists from the italian avant-garde. Through
these fifty years of history it has continually been developed through the
succession of three generations of gallery owners belonging to the same family
and is now held by the two brothers Beatrice and Federico Hausammann. During these last years, the gallery has
opened up its focus onto the new forms of the contemporary artistic production,
which are more correlated to Graffiti Writing and Street Art. Hausammann
Gallery has organized personal and collective exhibitions of some of the most
important graffiti writers from Italy and has recently been part of the last
edition of the Stroke Art Fair in Munich.
The artists
POESIA
Poesia is a world-renown artist and a graffiti writer from San
Francisco Bay Area and has been doing graffiti since twenty-five years. He has
shown internationally in cities including: Milan, Hawaii, Glasgow, London,
Paris, San Jose, Miami, Oakland, Monaco, San Francisco, Portland and Los
Angeles. He has also traveled internationally painting murals or installations
in cities such as Barcelona, Brighton, Glasgow, Miami, Los Angeles, London,
Paris, Cannes, San Francisco, Perpignon, Oakland, Tijuana, Hawaii, and New
York.
He is also the founder of the website
Graffuturism.com that has led to the Graffuturist group or Graffuturism
Movement. Graffuturism was founded in 2010 and has now exhibited as a group in
five major cities around the world including Paris, Los Angeles, London,
Glasgow and Miami. With a group consisting of some of today’s top contemporary
painters, Graffuturism has established itself as an emerging movement in
today’s Art scene.
RAPTUZ
Raptuz is a famous graffiti writer from Milan, co-founder of the
historical crew of TDK and part of the world-renowned CBS crew, from West-Holliwood
- California. He has been doing graffiti since almost thirty years, developing
his figurative style both in Italy and in California where he has lived for
several years. He is considered one of the historical italian graffiti writers
that was important for the development of the movement in the country.
He has been painting and showing worldwide and during this last year
he has exhibited in collaboration with Hausammann Gallery and Nina Torres Fine
Art Gallery, both in Miami and in Italy for personal and collective
expositions.
He has also exhibited at the Stroke Art Fair in Munich, in which he
has been invited to paint a mural during a site specific performance.
The art critic
GIADA PELLICARI
Giada Pellicari (Padova, 1987) is a contemporary art curator who is
currently devoting her research and practice to the fields of Graffiti and
Street Art, New Media and Public Art, through exhibitions, workshops and
lectures. She completed her BA in Visual
Arts at the University of Padova with Honours and her MA in Visual Arts at IUAV
University in Venice with Honours.
She has
been for a year a curator in residence at Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, in
Venice, in which she has curated and co-curated exhibitions, series of talks,
public performances and workshops.
She has worked as teaching assistant for a visual art course of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in partnership with Graduate Course in Visual Art and Fashion, IUAV University.
Since August 2012 she has been the Editor in Chief of the famous website focused on Graffiti and Street Art: www.streetartattack.com

Deconstructions è una doppia
personale di Raptuz e Poesia, due graffiti writer
riconosciuti a livello mondiale, che è nata con l’idea di rendere tangibili le
relazioni che intercorrono nello sviluppo delle loro pratiche indoor.
Organizzata grazie alla collaborazione tra le due gallerie d’arte Nina Torres Fine Art e Galleria Hausammann, la mostra inaugurerà
il 18 luglio a Miami e rimarrà aperta fino al 31 nella location di
Nina Torres.
Introdotta grazie a un saggio critico scritto dalla curatrice d’arte
contemporanea Giada Pellicari,
l’esposizione si terrà attraverso gli ampi spazi della galleria e intenderà
proporre un parallelismo tra i lavori degli artisti i quali, anche se
provengono da due diversi paesi in cui la scena dei graffiti è completamente
diversa, si basano entrambi sull’ idea della scomposizione attraverso
l’utilizzo di tecniche miste: nel caso di Raptuz l’analisi è focalizzata
maggiormente sulla realizzazione di figure iconiche ed oggetti, mentre per
quanto riguarda Poesia è più indirizzata all’atto della pittura e alla
gestualità attraverso la decostruzione della forma delle lettere.

La mostra nel suo complesso vuole essere anche una riflessione
rispetto al tema della serie, che è fondamentale nello sviluppo dell’opera da
parte di Raptuz e Poesia. Non si pone, infatti, solamente come una questione da
analizzare attraverso l’uso della pittura e dello spray, ma anzi risulta essere
un’effetteva metodologia di produzione. Tutti i dipinti, di conseguenza, vanno
considerati sia finiti e funzionali di per sè, sia come una fase per lo
sviluppo di un complesso corpus che
dovrebbe essere visto ed esperienziato in
situ all’interno dello spazio completo. I lavori, di fatti, saranno per la
maggior parte nuovi e realizzati proprio in occasione di Deconstructions, un termine che non si imposta esclusivamente come
una parola che descrive propriamente la loro metodologia nella creazione di
quest’ultima produzione di tele, ma che, in realtà, dovrebbe anche essere
considerato come un tema sviluppato attraverso la mostra, immaginata come un
vero percorso.

L’opening sarà caratterizzato anche da un live painting attraverso il quale i due artisti mostreranno le loro
abilità e la loro metodologia nel realizzare le opere.
Verrà creata anche una connessione effettiva con Miami – Wynwood, il quartiere noto a
livello mondiale per la presenza di pezzi importanti realizzati da street
artists e graffiti writers, per il quale Raptuz e Poesia dipingeranno due opere di muralismo urbano a partire
dall’11 luglio.

Per oltre
vent’anni Nina Torres ha partecipato attivamente nel mercato internazionale
dell’arte, focalizzandosi sull’arte latino-americana moderna e contemporanea e
sulla cultura messicana. Durante la sua carriera ha creato, sviluppato e
implementato con successo programmi culturali per organizzazioni aziendali, governative
e private. Ha negoziato e venduto lavori per grandi aristi latino americani,
inclusi: Carlos Merida, Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, Remedios Varo, Francisco Zuniga,
e ha creato l’asta inaugurale delle opera del famoso David Alfaro Siqueiros.
Nina ha curato e
supervisionato oltre cento mostre in gallerie, fiere e musei in giro per il
mondo inclusi Gran Bretagna, Messico, Belgio, Olanda, Francia, Tailandia e gli
Stati Uniti. E’ la fondatrice e direttrice della Miami River Art Fair, la prima
fiera d’arte lungomare che si tiene durante la settimana di Art Basel Miami.
HAUSAMMANN GALLERY
La galleria
Hausammann è stata fondata nel 1961 a Cortina D’Ampezzo, dall’importante
collezionista d’arte Renato Hausammann. Fin dagli inizi è divenuta un punto di
riferimento per l’arte contemporanea nel territorio di Ampezzo grazie alla sua
ricerca molto focalizzata su artisti famosi dell’avanguardia italiana.
Attraverso questi cinquant’anni di storia, è stata continuamente condotta attraverso
la successione di tre generazioni di galleristi tutti appartenenti alla stessa
famiglia ed è ora diretta dai due fratelli Beatrice e Federico Hausammann. In
quest’ultimo anno la galleria ha ampliato il suo focus verso le nuove forme
della produzione artistica contemporanea, che sono più correlate ai Graffiti e
alla Street Art. La galleria Hausammann ha organizzato mostre personali e
collettive di alcuni tra i più importanti graffiti writers italiani e
recentemente ha preso parte dell’ultima edizione della Stroke Art Fair a Monaco.
Gli artisti
POESIA
Poesia è un
artista e un writer riconosciuto a livello mondiale proveniente dalla Baia di
San Francisco e realizza graffiti da venticinque anni. Ha esposto il suo lavoro
internazionalmente in città quali: Milan, Hawaii, Glasgow, London, Paris, San
Jose, Miami, Oakland, Monaco, San Francisco, Portland e Los Angeles. Ha anche
viaggiato in tutto il mondo per dipingere opere di muralismo o installazioni in
città come: Barcelona, Brighton, Glasgow, Miami, Los Angeles, London, Paris,
Cannes, San Francisco, Perpignon, Oakland, Tijuana, Hawaii e New York.
E’ anche il
fondatore del sito Graffuturism.com che ha condotto alla formazione del
Graffuturism group o del Movimento graffuturista. Graffuturism è stato fondato
nel 2010 e ha esposto come gruppo in cinque città principali del mondo quali
Parigi, Los Angeles, Glasgow e Miami. Con un gruppo caratterizzato da alcuni
dei maggiori pittori contemporanei di oggi, Graffuturism si è imposto come un
movimento emergente nella scena artistica contemporanea.
RAPTUZ
Raptuz è un
famoso graffiti writer di Milano, co-fondatore della storia crew dei TDK e
parte dei CBS, crew nota a livello mondiale di West-Holliwood, California.
Dipinge graffiti da oltre trent’anni, sviluppando il suo stile figurativo sia
in Italia che in California, dove ha vissuto per diversi anni. E’ riconosciuto
come uno dei graffiti writer storici italiani che è stato importante per lo
sviluppo del movimento nel paese.
Ha dipinto ed
esposto in tutto il mondo e nell’ultimo anno ha mostrato il suo lavoro in
collaborazione con la Galleria Hausammann e la Nina Torres Fine Art, sia a
Miami che in Italia all’interno di personali e collettive.
Ha anche esposto
alla Stroke Art Fair a Monaco, dove è stato invitato a dipingere un murale
durante una performance site-specific.
